Training for you!

Flanders is worldwide considered at a top position regarding the design and development of chips and its applications. Nevertheless, there are over 500 vacancies in the Flemish Chip Industry at this moment while the number of graduate students in electronics and photonics cannot cover these vacancies. As such, the FC3 consortium will initiate, organize and support trainings in order to alleviate the talent shortage in chip development and integration. These trainings will be open to newly graduated students but also to professionals in the field that are looking for specific knowledge and skills regarding design of integrated chips. In addition to the courses targeted towards young graduates and professionals, initiatives for a broader audience like secondary school students in STEM education will also be supported.

On this website, you will find an overview of the trainings that are currently offered or that are online available.

Please stay in touch, new trainings will be made available regularly!

Micro- and nanofabrication

General principles of common micro-and nanofabrication techniques for glass and silicon, such as lithography, dry and wet etching, deposition, bonding are covered. More exotic methods applicable for a broader range of materials (including polymeric substrates) are subsequently discussed. This training will be organized by MICROLAB and can be online, on-site and through summer schools.

Microfluidics for biotechnology/sustainable chemistry

The main principles and drivers of miniaturization of flow devices are discussed. Possible flow configurations are reviewed, along with the broad range of multiphysics principles available to propel or mix liquids and manipulate species (molecules, particles, cells…) in flows.  A range of killer (biotech and chemical) applications using formats, e.g. lab-on-a-disc, and acoustofluidic methods are discussed. In conclusion, the impact of fabrication accuracy on the performance of microfluidic devices is covered. This training will be organized by MICROLAB and can be online, on-site and through summer schools.
